What defines an Inactive device?

  1. An inactive device is a device that is attempting to send data, but can’t. The most common causes for inactive devices are changes to connectivity and battery.
  2. A common disruption to connectivity and battery occurs when devices are removed from the field, but not turned off. When devices are brought inside from the field they no longer can solar recharge and connectivity is disrupted (if they are not turned off).
  3. This results in data contamination (unwanted data from inside a vehicle or building) and data disruption (devices stop connecting).
  4. Inactive devices are categorized as unhealthy and require action.
